[[http://laagencia.org/:Vicente Matallana]] is director and founder of LaAgencia, an independent new media art production company created in 1998 in Madrid (ES). Its mandate is to respond to the new structural needs required by the incorporation of new technologies in art. LaAgencia is engaged in programmes and projects all over Spain, Europe, USA and Latin America, focused on new media art as an alternative paradigm of research and knowledge. LaAgencia has been collaborating with ARCO since 1999, and is currently in charge of the technical coordination of EXPANDED-BOX (the new media art section at ARCO). LaAgencia is also responsible for developing and managing the programmes organised by ARCO related to new media art, such as the ARCO-BEEP Electronic Art Prize and the Arte 2.0 Competition of Ideas organised by Vocento, as well as sponsorship and technological alliances. As a production company, LaAgencia is a forerunner in the field of new media art collaborating with major organisations and artists. It is presently engaged in the production of the exhibition “Máquinas y Almas” for Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, Madrid, Spain. Vicente Matallana is also a teacher and lecturer and regularly publishes articles. He has been a member of the editorial board of the ARCO-News magazine. ARCO/BEEP NEW MEDIA ART AWARDS
2nd edition
Conceded by BEEP, in collaboration with ARCO
Worth 8.000 euros and 6.000 euros

The goal of these awards is to advance the production and exhibition of New Media Art, and art linked to new technologies. Its purpose is to promote new high-tech art, and to foster communication between the manufacturers/creators of this new technology and those who create art. A natural collaboration, which will benefit and enrich both sides.
There are two ACQUISITION PRIZES:
1) @ARCO Prize: worth 8.000 euros. To be eligible, an artwork must be shown by a gallery at the 26th edition of ARCO, the International Contemporary Art Fair, in Madrid (15-19 February 2007), and must have a significant component involving new technology or electronic media.
2) OFF-ARCO Prize: worth 6.000 euros. Artworks presented by individual artists or collectives.
The prizes will be awarded by an international jury of prestigious specialists.

ART TECH MEDIA 06 is a Meeting of Artists, Museum Directors, Art Centres,
Media Lab, Thinkers, Curators, Gallery owners, Collectors, Cultural Agents,
Politicians and Society, in many cases, confused by the methods and concepts
which are so different from the traditional ways of producing of art, its
exhibition, collecting, and way of contemplating.

ART TECH MEDIA 06 was born with the intention of reflecting, analyzing and
viewing art produced using new technologies in Spain within an international
context, and the impact that our polyhedric altered reality has on their
widespread use.

It will be developed in different sections: Lectures, Round Tables, official
announcements for video artists from all over the world, and exhibitions in
the participating venues.
