OPPORTUNITY

TINTarts Lab

Deadline:
Sun May 09, 2010 00:00

Call for artists and theorists to engage in a new collaborative media arts lab.

TINT opens its Arts Lab in May 2010 to provide an online platform for artists to present and develop ideas through critical feedback and open discourse. Based on a framework of constructive critique and knowledgeable support, participating artists are invited to explore their work within the boundaries of media art. Participating artists will be required that they develop their project in their own workspace, documenting their progress thoroughly at all stages from conceptional to realisation in a dedicated blog. With the labs focus on the documentation of these usually opaque processes we enable a dedicated team of artists, theorist and practitioners as well as the wider community to respond to the project and provide thereby the possibility for artistic development. Once all the first round projects are completed, they will be jointly presented in a TINT curated event in a London based venue.

Call for artists projects
Project proposals from artists and art groups that wish to realize an experimental media art projects, such as sonic, digital, code based, custom or hacked electronics art, and want to submit their projects to the arts lab's supportive platform of constructive critique.

Begin: Mid of May 2010.
Duration: 4-6 Weeks.

Learn more about the labs structure on http://lab.tintarts.org/about/.

Please send a project outline (with sketches) and a CV to lab@tintarts.org

Call for feedback by art historians, media theorists, artists, technicians, and all the other who might want to raise a voice.
The lab's projects needs a continuous flow of comments and feedback to support the participating artists in their development. We're looking for a small group of people to set up a team of regular commentators on all projects but also wish to establish a data base of interested people we could contact to give feedback on specific issues. All regular commentators will be promoted prominently on the lab's web site.

Please send a short summary of your field of interests and a CV to lab@tintarts.org

Deadline for proposals and expressions of interest: 09 May 2010.

Deadline:
Mon Mar 29, 2010 00:00

OPEN CALL: an exhibition of open source, hacking and modding

Location: Watermans Arts Centre, London
Exhibition dates: September & October 2010

TINT in collaboration with Watermans Art Centre in London is organising an exhibition of Media Art using Floss (Free/libre/open source software) as well as hacking, modding and DIY projects.

We are looking for artists who are striving to make something expressive and artistically engaging with the deluge of technologies in the networks, mobile phones, gadgets and toys. This could include coding and hardware projects, which have either been built using free software or hardware, or have been created by modifying an existing device to produce a hybrid mutilation, or a completely new object in it's own right. Selected artists will be exhibiting alongside some of the leading hacking and open source artists and collectives in the UK, such as The Owl Project, Genetic Moo, Tine Bech, Michael Zeltner, Alex Zivanovic, Alex McLean, Peter Forde and more.

Parallel to the main exhibition at the Watermans Art Centre an event will be held to coincide with the London Digital Week on 21st - 27th September 2010. This will allow some of the artists to talk about their work and present a program of workshops in opensource hardware/software.

We will get back to everyone by the 14th April 2010. If you have any questions please email us at: info@tintarts.org.

EVENT

Media Art. A 3-Dimensional Perspective

Dates:
Sat Jan 30, 2010 00:00 - Sun Jan 17, 2010

An online exhibition curated by captincaptin, Media Art. A 3-Dimensional Perspective presents the work of 8 artists over a two week Add-Art exhibition.

Add-Art is a free FireFox add-on which replaces advertising on websites with curated art images. The art shows are updated every two weeks and feature contemporary artists and curators. The Add-Art software can be downloaded at www.add-art.org

16th - 29th January 2010
Image as a documentation of a 3-Dimensional form is limited to the boundaries of a frame. It allows us to capture an object and to archive a moment in time, but how we perceive the areas outside the extremities of the 2-dimensional image is dependent upon our interpretations. Unable to see all the viewpoints of an object or setting within this space, our minds create a logical impression of how it would appear were we to be placed at the instance of the image.

To this means images can play an important role in inspiring an interest within the viewer to explore the work in a physical space. We were interested in getting the eight artists presented in this exhibition to respond to this criteria. To present an image which would best represent their art practice and allow the viewer to create a perception of how the objects exist in their complete form, displaying an image which they felt would most likely instill an interest to explore.

Exhibiting Artists include: Mike Blow, Madi Boyd, Matthew Curtis, The Egg Group, Jamie Elliott, Winnie Soon, Parag Mital & Agelos Papadakis, and Yann Seznec
