Artist born in Queens, NY. The daughter of a Brooklynite and Liverpudlian who grew up in a hamlet of the town of Carmel, New York. Sherry Mayo undertook an independent study of BioArt at Boston College and after a brief time in medical research moved to Manhattan. Here she undertook an MFA at NYU and residency in the East Village for a decade. After working at the School of Visual Arts and teaching, Mayo again pursued further training this time at Teachers College Columbia University for a doctorate in Art & Art Education.
Research areas include: arts technology integration in higher education and combining both traditional and digital materials in studio practice. As a practitioner she is thoroughly engaged with painting and drawing which ever sharpens her skills and passion for studio practice. In addition, Mayo works digitally and integrates the digital as she pleases into the vast Cosmoscape she is building.
Other scholarly interests include: digital aesthetics, the cultural impact of digital technologies, and the post-human. Recent exhibitions include: "Love Beyond Borders" Brighton, UK and "Utopia: Dreams of Paradise and Possibility" Shenere Velt Gallery, Los Angelos, CA.
