the heap presents: altered egos
Deadline:
Fri Apr 03, 2009 00:00
The event: Friday May 1st, 2009
Location: Space Gallery - San Francisco
Altered Egos is an event highlighting art and sound that directly confronts and engages the audience so that there is no passive way to observe the work. The Heap intends to create a unique environment that forces dialog between the viewer, the artists, and the space by encouraging work that is visceral, dynamic, and interactive. This concept could mean a variety of things depending on an artists approach, medium, and interpretation of this concept.
Some elaborations that are in no way concrete terms:
Work that challenges the ego of the viewer thereby altering their state of consciousness.
Reflections on ego, self-changing events, concepts, or a call to do so.
Altered states of being, consciousness, or form.
Ego as a fluid unstable entity and the things that effect its change.
The meaning of ego - culturally, socially.
Identity as a product of ego.
...Take this idea and run with it.
