BIO
Raymond Salvatore Harmon is an American painter and new media artist. A proponent of non object oriented art Harmon is the editor of NOOART Journal (nooart.org). Utilizing architectural scale painting and new media/web based content in coordination with public performance and web based social engineering.
Harmon paints dominantly on an architectural scale, encompassing multistory building facades, sidewalks and street surfaces which he has referred to as "site specific paint installations." Visually his work is based in gestural abstracted forms utilizing intensely vibrant colours to alter the public perception of both the architecture and its contextual environment.
Harmon's film and video work is predominately abstract. Compared to experimental film maker Stan Brakhage, Harmon's use of abstract imagery is more directly influenced by the works of Harry Smith.
His work has been presented at numerous galleries and festivals throughout the world including – The Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, ICA London, Unsound Festival – Kraków, Robert Beck Memorial Cinema, Copenhagen International Documentary Festival, Artist Television Access, Chicago Underground Film Festival, Cement Media Festival, Athens International Film Festival, RAW Tempel – Berlin, Axiom Theater, Northwest Film Forum, Ann Arbor Film Festival, and The Horse Hospital, London.

Sigils of the Heptameron
Dates:
Sat Sep 27, 2008 00:00 - Tue Sep 02, 2008
September, 20 + 27 2008
New media artist and transcendental filmmaker
Raymond Salvatore Harmon
will present for the first time in public his work
Sigils of the Heptameron
Based on the seven invocations of the angels of the day from the fourth
book of Agrippa's Occult Philosophy (attributed to Peter de Albano).
These 7 transcendental films contain all of the original text of the
invocations of each day as subliminal content. The origin of these
works date back to the Sepher Maphteah Shelomoh (Book of the Key of
Solomon) and can be found in their earliest versions in the Book of
Light.
The Heptameron outlines the rites for conjuring angels for the seven
days of the week. These pieces form a collection of occult cinematic
invocations utilized as practical tools for ritual magick.
"For Harmon, the visual density of the abstract imagery used will
enable the viewer to enter an almost hypnagogic, liminal state, and
“become perceptually distant from the sense of the real. Once the
enveloping visual content has become the landscape of the mind to the
viewer, the subliminal content (namely the text of the rites) will have
access to the subconscious mind.” - Jack Sargeant, Fortean Times
Until now only performed in private this piece, originally commissioned
by an unnamed occult order, provides an active example of Harmon's
transcendental film theories. Look forward to an astounding night of
occult transcendence.

Dave Phillips is a founding member of Fear of God, Schimpfluch-Gruppe, OHNE, and dead peni. DP researches and ponders existence, behaviours and value-systems, in a way that, most unscientifically, could be termed humanimalistic, or intimate. Using sound as main catalyst, his re/search is for improvement, raising awareness, finding meaning, tuning senses, seeing the big picture, and some form of release - a release that often is polemical and cathartic, and one that opposes the omnipresent reduction of existence, that desires to cast aside artificial arrangements and constraints.

Aleister Crowley's Rites of Eleusis
Dates:
Fri Mar 07, 2008 00:00 - Sun Feb 10, 2008
Friday March 7th 2008 - 9pm
Raymond Salvatore Harmon presents
Aleister Crowley's Rites of Eleusis
a 3 channel occult video performance
Celebrating the 100 year anniversary of the union of Miss Leila Waddell and Mr Aleister Crowley.
Experimental media artist Raymond Salvatore Harmon will present a live improvised set of 7 films. Each based on the individual rituals in British occultist Aleister Crowley's Rites of Eleusis, first presented at Caxton Hall, London in 1910. Crowley based the rituals of Rites of Eleusis on each of the seven classical planets of antiquity - "Saturn", "Jupiter", "Mars", "Sol" (the Sun), "Venus", "Mercury" and "Luna".
Utilizing the entire text of the rites as subliminal content Harmon will improvise the abstract layers of imagery to a prepared score. Presented in a 3 channel video environment Rites of Eleusis promises to be an updated public occult ritual for the 21st century.
Harmon's previous occult filmworks have been widely regarded as pioneering in the field of occult/transcendental cinema. His treatise Transcendental Cinema (available from GreyLodge Occult Review here: www.greylodge.org/ebooks/Transcendental_Cinema.pdf) outlines the use of experimental cinema/film/video as a medium for use in the expansion of the mental landscape and the exploration of the conscious mind.
