Rita Sá was born in Lisbon, Portugal. She earned her B.A. and Licenciatura degree in painting, from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Universidade de Lisboa. She's a 2009 graduate student from the MFA Computer Art department of SVA, where she studied under a joint scholarship from the Gulbenkian Foundation and Luso-American Foundation and the MFACA department of SVA. In 2006, her collaborative work Wordsong-Pessoa was awarded best hybrid project - gathering image, music and sound, by the Portuguese Multimedia Awards.
