BIO
I studied Painting at the Ohio State University in Columbus and Graphic Design at the University of Illinois. Working in these disciplines has influenced my research of developing historical projects that focus interest on cultural narratives and how traditional art mediums may simultaneously give reference to impermanence and the transience of a moment.

Since that time, my work has been extended to consider human powered travel in the environment as an aspect of American mythology and history. In 2010, I rode a bicycle over 2000 miles retracing Abraham Lincoln's inaugural train route.

Slow movement and long distance travel situates a rider in an intimate relationship within the landscape. But this is not only about an escape into nature, – it is also about building a relationship to society as well. As I plan the next aspect of this bicycle ‘landscape and memory’ project, I will take on the road technical tools that will allow me to conduct a mobile seminar on boundaries and landscape via a sattelite connection.

Art and technology has intertwined so much that even traditional painting has been forced to re considered its position alongside digital media and software in contemporary criticism. One system’s limitations ideally would be picked up by the next as I/we struggle with human and technical interactions.
