My practice creatively explores acts of identity placemaking within the digital domain. I use the web as a space to make art and have a public presence in several online spaces. I am particularly interested in how humans extend themselves through technology mediated experiences; such as participation in virtual worlds, online forums, creation of profiles on the social web. I work with a mashup of new media, such as video, Global Positioning, micro blogging, mscapes, web applications which harvest data, and net art.
I currently have work in Twitter/Art+Social Media at Diane Farris Gallery in Vancouver (2010) and recently represented ESA Leeds, UK at the Amsterdam Biennale (2009) with a Twitter based piece called Pst!.
I was born in Canada where I obtained a BFA from York University (2001). I came to England in 2003 to pursue a MA Sculpture at Winchester School of Art - Southampton University. I am now a British citizen and am currently completing a PhD at Leeds Metropolitan University in Contemporary Practice (2010). The really, really long title for my academic research is--> Claiming the Portable Home: Research into Creative Acts of Embodying Mixed-Reality and Identity Placemaking within the Digital Domain.
