BIO
Mary Ann Strandell's current exhibition, "Re-Material" interweaves data, archives and source material into layered lenticular print installations, with paintings and expansive ink drawings applied directly to the walls. This exhibition celebrates a hyper-textual amalgamation of the postmodern and the Baroque, pausing at various highs and lows of cultural memes- utopic and dystopic.
She will present a lecture, "Lenticular Prints in a Hyperspace World" to The Print Society at The Nelson Atkins Museum, October 2014. She has exhibited at Michael Steinberg Gallery, Independent Station Gallery and Bitforms Gallery in New York City, Deborah Colton in Houston, Panorama Art Space in Cologne, FIAC Paris, and Byron Cohen Gallery in Kansas City. Her commissioned work, "A Moving Wall' was completed in 2013 for The Polsinelli Law Firm, Kansas City. She received her MA and MFA from the University of New Mexico. She was born in South Dakota and currently lives and works in the New York CIty area.
