BIO
Greetings:
My work centers around the merging of technologies and mediums; specifically the merging of robotics with once living and living plant tissue.
In doing this, I am concerned with the concept of language developement in societal structures I create as well as the development of interaction between art objects and humans.
Questions that arise as my work develops is how the human perceives such kinetic works. How do we put our emotions on these objects?
By programming two or more sculptures to react to one another, are they communicating with one another? Are we, the viewer communicating with them? Is the integration of materials that would not normally "work" togther, creating a new entity or society that behaves in a structured civilized way to perform a function?
By using living trees as a foundation structure for holding all of the robotic components, what am I saying as an artist? When these structures react to human presence, what does this say about the object(s)?
As I pursue my Masters, these will be questions I will further research.
