Yesterday's Song is a web art project that combines blogging and songwriting. For one hundred days I wrote, recorded, and posted a song and text entry based upon my daily experiences. Visitors to the site rated the songs. These ratings were used to rank the songs in a top ten jukebox on the site. The site also contains a Blog/Album which allows visitors to play back the entire project either in chronological order or according to song ranking.
Ultimately this project is an exploration in how blogging and songwriting can be combined to form a new kind of personal narrative. In a broader sense I am interested in how networks can be used to challenge the forms of recorded music.
