Just five seconds

Dates:
Mon Jul 20, 2015 00:00 - Thu Dec 31, 2015

Every five seconds, someone in the world die because of starvation. Every five seconds, a new image with the hashtag "foodporn" is published on Instagram. It is as if the reckless spending and malnutrition proceeded at the same rate, for an incredible and sad coincidence.Who has not come across or has created a photo and then post it on Instagram with hashtag foodporn? In the jargon of the internet, this keyword has come to identify images of overabundant and excessive portions. they can be identified with 5 seconds of happiness for someone, but not for all: in those same five seconds a person dies from lack of food. They die every day of hunger and more than 26,000 people die in a year, more than 3 million children under age 5. Hunger is on the first place in the list of factors of greatest risk for health in the world and each year hunger kills more people than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

justfiveseconds.com mixes two streams of information: the hashtag "foodporn" recalled from Instagram and the Reuters news on world hunger. The choice of their more or less visibility on the site is a reflection of our focus on one or the other topic. The website refresh every 5 seconds, which is the rate of death from malnutrition, and the foodporn images are updated automatically.

Junk With Art

Project launch for Junk with Art. People are invited to submit GPS coordinates in google street view wherever they found Junk Art on Google Street View. The images obtained will be posted on project page http://junkwithart.tumblr.com/

Wonderful examples of street art, graffiti of extraordinary beauty made onto poor support are appearing in every city: rubbish bins. The choice fell on the containers and not, more trivially, on the walls, since a wall remains someone’s property , while waste is something that we all produce, which comes from our homes and therefore represent us most intimately. Furthermore, bins are perishable media compared to a solid wall, which, unless the builinding is demolished, It is able to withstand for decades to weather and adversity . If we add that, because of the gradual spread of the collection, soon all these containers will disappear permanently, the desire to save these works so that they are usable for years to come definitely takes on a new meaning.
Visitors can choose between viewing through Google Street View physically inaccessible works, or exploring their territory and then going down the streets and admire them live.
Junk With Art is a virtual art gallery open 24/7 and it is fully interactive through the use of Google Maps: clicking on the links that follow the work, the visitor has the opportunity to view directly the works herein documented. A real appreciation of what could undoubtedly be defined, albeit wrongly, junk art.
Users will also have the opportunity to participate actively in the collection of these testimonies reporting new graffiti or sending firsthand photos of the works in their city or encountered in the course of their journeys.
