BIO
Gersart is the digital description of all that I create. As a digital artist working with large format displays and interaction, I am intrigued by the many ways one can represent the person who is working with or viewing the artwork. From shadows and silhouettes to re-representations of the human form in digital contexts, my goal is to include the visitor within the artwork. This desire to put oneself into a piece has also expanded to photography, designed to give a more complete feeling of being within a location.

My art comes from the insignificance of the human form within the vast landscapes of Alberta, and are meant to negotiate the lack of control one can feel in locations that dwarf the human scale. Integrating digital means and processes pushes from a static rendition of viewer+art to being a more complete form of visitor+place.

My undergrad work is from the Alberta College of Art and Design, within the Media Art and Digital Technologies faculty, and continuing with a Masters at the University of Calgary in the Computational Media Design faculty.
