BIO
I the late 1980's and early 1990's I was most of time attached to CIM at McGill University in Montreal, working on visual perception, biomedical imagery, and general AI
[ http://www.cim.mcgill.ca/ ]
I also was a visiting researcher at the Mathematical Morphology Center, near Paris, in 1991 [ http://cmm.ensmp.fr/ ].

From 1994 to 1998 I was project manager in the R&D dept. of the GIS (geographical information systems) activity of Thales (then Syseca), running various French and European projects using advanced imaging technologies.

From 1998 to 2004 I was with Brown University where I co-founded the SHAPE Laboratory, devoted to the study of digital modeling with applications to archaeology and cultural heritage
[ http://www.lems.brown.edu/shape/ ]
I am still attached to the SHAPE Lab and hold a Visiting Professorship in Engineering at Brown since 2007.

In 2004, I crossed the Atlantic once more and joined Goldsmiths College part of the University of London, where I first initiated and ran a graduate program in Arts Computing until 2007. This MSc at the frontier of perception, realism, imagination and digital creativity has now become an MFA in computational Studio Arts. In 2008 I introduced together with William Latham a new MSC in Computer Games and Entertainment

Together with William we are setting up an R&D university start-up company.

On the research front, I am developing a mathematical language for shape representation with potential for applications in various domains and industries, from the Arts and Performance areas to Biology, Medicine, Computer Aided Design (CAD), Architecture, etc.
