Elizabeth Appell has written six screenplays. Screening Device was optioned as was Lessons from the Gypsy Camp adapted from her novel by the same name. The script won first place in the 2007 Nevada State Film Commission Screenplay Competition. The option has just expired. Moon Walkers was a semi-finalist in the Blue Cat Competition, semi-finalist in the Acclaim Screenwriting Competition, quarter finalist in Fade IN:, semi-finalist in the Page Screenwriting Competition and quarter-finalist in StoryPros.com. Her short film, Easy Made Hard was a quarter-finalist in Writers Network Script Competition and a finalist in Reel Women Screenplay competition. The film is now in development.

The treatment for The Extra Mile recently placed First in the American Gem Screenwriting Competition.

Appell’s full-length play Confessions of a Catholic Child was produced in Los Angeles, 2007. James Denton (Desperate Housewives) played the lead in Moon Walkers, the play version. Other plays have placed in competitions in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Her short stories that have appeared in literary journals including, The North Atlantic Review, Storied Crossing Anthology, Wellington Blues, X-Stories, Snake Nation and The Portland Review. Her stories have placed first in the National League of American Pen Women, The Dorothy Daniels Award for Short Fiction, first in the Foster City Literary Competition, and third in the Southwest Writers Literary Competition. Twice she has been a finalist in Writer’s Digest Literary Competitions.
