BIO
Elena Cologni works in mediatised performances and installation, mainly manipulating video to enhance the awareness of the unstable nature of perception and memorisation of reality through time. ‘Since the Creative Lab Residency at CCA in October/November 2006, I have ‘played’ with notions of memory as archival and removal, trying to enhance the audience’s and my own experience of who we are in any given moment. Using video pre-recorded and archival material from the in the ‘presentness’ of the event, underline the everyday’s condition of constantly engaging with (and processing) re-presentation of immediate or remote past, to make sense of the present'.
After a PhD and a post doc art project at Central Saint Martins College of art in London she is now research fellow at York Saint John University in York UK.
