The Improvised Electronics Round Robin is a live audiovisual concert by tool builders, artists, and engineers. The performers will play short interlocking sets and then perform the Dark Circuits Light Orchestra score by electronic composer Hans Tammen.

Get your pirate radio on, building transmitters to broadcast your voice to nearby tuned radios. We will work with soldering irons and small circuit boards, developing an understanding of analog radio technology and frequency, as well as the use of community-based FM radio in social action. It’s a hands-on class that puts technology in the context of history, power, and the politics of speech. This workshop requires no previous knowledge and everyone leaves with their own FM radio transmitter!

Get a hands-on introduction to mesh networks in a collaborative project building an independent queer network in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. We’ll learn how to make nodes and explore what building a queer network means. By working off the grid, what emerges from the workshop is both an invitation for further engagement and a practical primer on setting up independent internet access points.
