ClipArt History invites the user to produce Clip Art (with an emphasis on the Art!) using MIcrosoft Word or Powerpoint and submit it to the ClipArt History Gallery.
The idea is, that whilst the practices of Free Software & Open Source communities already destabilise consumer/producer oppositions, empowering the individual, there is no such explicit debate in terms of proprietary software.
With the release of more and more software packages which site the consumer as a producer (iLife for example) encouraging a debate around this issue is one way to guard against the cooption of our creativity.
Have a go at this it's easy: just edit some existing clip art (it's easy to find: in Microsoft Word, on their website, or on numerous websites dedicated to clip art.. check google) and through editing it, turn it into real art! Then post it to me, and I'll pop it in ...
