Maurizio Lanzillotta was born and lived all his childhood in Bologna and Ravenna (Italy). He has been painting since he was a child and at the early age of 8 he won his first painting award. After some few years of Law studies, he devoted himself fully to the arts, taking inspirations from the Italian Metaphysic tradition (Giorgio de Chirico, Giorgio Morandi) and his travels.
At 28 he moved to Spain. There he felt captivated by the Spanish landscape which from then on would be part of his work and alongside the Italian tradition and his own vision of the world will shape his current and latest artworks.
Maurizio Lanzillotta’s work has attracted the attention of galleries on Europe, Asia and America. He is not only a recognized painter but also an innovative sculptor and an artist deeply curious about the possibilities of new technologies. His digital paintings combine his passion for textures and colors and his love for the use of new mediums and techniques.
Lanzillotta feels that he is in the process of developing a new way of expressing reality maybe a bit far from the one of his early artworks, a reflection on the importance of color, but also from the last ones, those almost metaphysical landscapes.
“When people look at my work, I like them to have a unique experience, always personal and different for everyone”.
