BIO
Homesession
The project was initiated originally to combine an involvement with contemporary art and a strong interest in the Japanese culture. As one of the main issues in contemporary art is actually to understand the interrelation between the cultural framework and the artistic production, we aim at making possible a cultural interchange in the artistic process.

We want to focus on the link between the artistic concepts and the context of their emergence: our purpose is to traduce this reflexion in the creation process, by involving japanese and occidental artists in a very exciting exchange.

We want to encourage creation in visual arts, video, performance... Here are our focuses.

"seedbed: failed.version" a project by Javi Moreno

Dates:
Fri Oct 28, 2011 20:00 - Sat Oct 29, 2011

Location:
BARCELONA, Spain

homesession is proud to present seedbed: failed.version : spanish artist Javi Moreno will develop this project during the whole month of October through Cam4.com and Facebook, reaching its final point in a presentation at homesession at the end of the month.
In 1972, Vito Acconci performed an extremely private act in the Sonnabend Gallery (New York), with the title Seedbed (semillero). Hidden underneath a ramp, the artist spoke and masturbated while the audience walked "over him".
seedbed: failed.version takes as a starting point the transformation of the body into a spectacle through the web 2.0 and proposes to re-interpret Acconci's work, dealing with questions such as the pornographic domesticity, the artificial link established between the artist and the audience as well as the strategies of communication of the creative process.
The action has already started and you can begin to watch and participate to the work through CAM4 webpage. Each intervention on CAM4 will be announced through the events created on Facebook: presentation on October 28th  and October 29th .
We invite you to attend he end of the action, that will take place on October 28th and 29th at 8 pm at HOMESESSION, Barcelona, Spain.

Adam Davis @ homesession, Barcelona

Dates:
Sun Aug 22, 2010 00:00 - Thu Aug 05, 2010

Los Angeles based artist Adam Davis explores a variety of themes that goes from body politics to metaphysics. Part of his work tackles with the notion of manifest masculinity, with accepted and expected male behavior or expressions thereof, relating cultural symbolic system and the assets it sustains. The link between masculinity-in-context and social representations has led Adam Davis to deal with the question of structural dominations in the social relations: comparing both cultural and economic domination’s schemes of internalized rejections and fantasies, the artist focuses on the way different kinds of narrations get interwoven and interact mutually.
. Would metaphysics be a better field for universality and permanence? Adam Davis’ recent works question the representations, aspirations and values given to a possible experience beyond the physical universe. With this new perspectives that certainly enlighten the most melancholic features of his works, Adam Davis goes on working and language and its structures as well as the most ethereal aspects of our fantasies.

Adam Davis, 12th resident at homesession, will present the guidelines of his works as well as the recent developments he’s been working on at Makan Project Residency (Amman, Jordan) and homesession.

homesession Barcelona call for residency 2010

Deadline:
Sat Jan 10, 2009 00:00

HOMESESSION provides a residency for emerging artists to develop their creative work and to be able to show their creations in Barcelona (Spain). We offer in a loft in the center of Barcelona with creation and accomodation facilities by sharing a flat with the owners, who are the promotors of the residency programme.

RESIDENCY AS AN INTERCHANGE
We want the residency to be a real opportunity for the artist and we are prepared to be a link toward spanish artists and the local artistic community, in terms of making possible collaborations, four-handed creations or artistic events depending on his interests. Open studio and gallery exhibitions are organized if possible during or at the end of the residency.

CONDITIONS OF THE RESIDENCY, FEES AND LIVING EXPENSES
Due to the limitations of the flat, we only provide residency to one artist on each period. The residency is planned for a short period (maximum: one month) and it's possible for a same artist to apply for two residencies.
We don't charge any residency fees to the artists. As an interchange, we ask the artist to let us an artwork at the end of the residency. The artist will also finance his living expenses as well as his trip to Barcelona on his own.
