BIO
Homesession
The project was initiated originally to combine an involvement with contemporary art and a strong interest in the Japanese culture. As one of the main issues in contemporary art is actually to understand the interrelation between the cultural framework and the artistic production, we aim at making possible a cultural interchange in the artistic process.

We want to focus on the link between the artistic concepts and the context of their emergence: our purpose is to traduce this reflexion in the creation process, by involving japanese and occidental artists in a very exciting exchange.

We want to encourage creation in visual arts, video, performance... Here are our focuses.

The idea of this residency is based on a real integration to local life: the programme provide a flat and a studio and sessions with homesession’s curators for individually-tailored residency development.

The programme is particularly interested in emerging artists developing artistic or experimental production projects based on new ways of producing and discovering the city. EVENT

"TRAS LAS HUELLAS DEL DELITO". BY ANGIE BONINO

Dates:
Thu May 30, 2013 19:30 - Sat Jun 08, 2013

Location:
Barcelona, Spain

The relationship between the information and political projects is at the ground of Angie Bonino's work: the political modernity and, especially, the Nation-State's demiurgic project that aims at constructing a shared reality for a territory and a people, carries with it many contradictions. Among the obstacles, the transnational dynamics of capitalism have a central position, by producing a strong uncertainty about the place and form of the political power..

In this framework, the information overload has favored the emergence of the figure of conspiracy, which constitutes the basis of Angie Bonino's approach, by questionning the relevance of the official story and its mode of production. The artist takes on a political ontology which relies on a reality that would be distributed on a double level: the official one, at the surface, and a deeper level to which a serie of clues and evidence could lead. .

The project Tras las huellas del delito gives a form to an ongoing investigation through an activist space that connects positions, speeches and hidden intentions: it aims at counteracting "the grammar of normality", a set of rules that promotes the official story as the sole legitimate to deal with reality at a large scale.

OPPORTUNITY

Blank, black, back. Fran Meana.

Deadline:
Fri Nov 16, 2012 19:30

Location:
Barcelona, Spain

All images and objects in "Blank, black, back" are the result of an exchange, a collaboration or a more or less failed negotiation. The exhibition is a game between the continuous decision making, the questioning of authorship as an individual process, the desire to remain open to the unexpected and the need to retain some control. During the exhibition period, new pieces will be added till its closure on 30/11.
---

Fran Meana (Avilés, 1982) graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Vigo. He currently lives and works in Rotterdam, after studying at the Piet Zwart Institute.

His work explores the forms of power and social rituals, analyzing the relationship between production forms, symbols, images and construction of the collective imagination. He mostly bases on recent events, adding new data, elements of fiction or deliberately erroneous readings, generating new objects, situations or texts.

Opening: Friday, November 16, 2012. 19h30
Timetable: from 16/11 to 30/11 - Wed to Sat, 5pm to 7.30 pm.

OPPORTUNITY

Les Idoles. Gabriel Desplanque

Deadline:
Thu Sep 27, 2012 19:30

Location:
Barcelona, Spain

The film Les Idoles (The idols) has been realized by Gabriel Desplanquehttp://www.gabrieldesplanque.com/ in September 2012 in Barcelona during his residency at the French Institute.
The screening will be followed by "Le bestiaire du dedans" (The bestiary inside), a sound and visual piece performed live together with Arandel.
"Les Idoles" (The idols)
Film (Premiere).
Duration: 30 minutes.
''No one can see God without dying, they say.
However, witnesses testify to the contrary.''

Le bestiaire du dedans (The bestiary inside)
Live sound and visual piece for a dimly lit space. In collaboration with Arandel.
Duration: 30 minutes.
Dust and crackling talk about some fantastic story escaped the memory of this old women face that was framed by a floral scarf. It's a dark, mysterious and mystical pilgrimage, a funeral march or maybe just a celebration.

Thursday, 27 September 2012. 19h30
Institut Français
Carrer Moià, 8, 08006 Barcelona, Spain
(Please note, the event will begin at 19:30 precise)

The work of Gabriel Desplanque (1981, Paris) draws links between cinema and literature. In his videos and photographs, the image is thus the medium and the subject of a story whose uncertain and discontinuous construction shapes the meanings.

Giving up the conventional samples and MIDI instruments, Arandel is a migratory project with minimalist influences, that focuses on electro melodies with some krautrock inspiration. This is a faceless project, in which the creators disappear behind the creation: Arandel gives the prominent role to the music.
