BIO
Helena Acosta is an art curator interested in the study new media art and photography as socially engaged formats that bring new readings of the contemporary world. Her work as a researcher has developed in different countries such as Japan, the US, Spain, Colombia, Cuba and Venezuela. She has served as curator of the Biennial Kinetic legacy and the first edition of the The Wrong Digital New Digital Art Biennial. She is also part of the curatorial team of French Project SPAMM Super Art Modern Museum. Currently works as a Workshop Coordinator at Reverse Art Space a multidisciplinary workspace and art gallery located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

INTRO TO VR AND VIDEO GAMES

This course will introduce Unity, a free game development platform.

Do you love videogames? Do you ever wish you could have the ability to create your own universes and play God? Are you ready to get jacked into the Matrix? INTRO TO VR AND VIDEO GAMES will introduce Unity, a free software used by indie and professional developers to make all kinds of interactive Virtual Reality. The course will cover basic engine functions and will teach students how to make a simple first person interactive.

STUDENTS PROFILE

Computer literate
Ages 15-100 (depending on literacy level)

CONTENT
Intro, show examples of artists working in VR.
Body, working with unity, simple interface understanding. and creating a first person interactive.
Outro: Allow for creative time for students with help from instructor.

Alfredo Salazar-Caro is a New Media Artist, Curator and Educator from Mexico City, MX. His work has been exhibited internationally in cities like New York, Caracas, Paris, Mexico City, Berlin, Shiraz, London and Amsterdam among others.

Alfredo currently lives and works between New York, Chicago and Mexico City.

STRESS FREE O-1 ARTIST VISA APPLICATION explains to artists, curators, performances, film directors and musicians the complex entertainment visa requirements.

The O-1 work visa is for applicants who possess extraordinary abilities arts, education, athletics or other entertainment related areas are eligible. To initiate the process it is necessary to organize different types of information. In this regard, the O -1 visa can be confusing and stressful, it takes time and a considerable amount of planning.

In this workshop, each participant will learn how prioritize issues and time in order to build a solid case. The goal is to organize and present, a solid argument that proves that the participant gathers extraordinary abilities in their field.
