i am not a good enough feminist is a group exhibition and publication. In an era of presumed gender equality and celebrated civil rights achievements, have we become complacent and disinterested in the discourse of feminism today? This project seeks to investigate feminism as a historically situated moment and the possibilities and necessities of its contemporary manifestations. As a project, i am not a good enough feminist is the interdisciplinary convergence of artists, writers, activists and intellectuals contemplating their relationship to feminism. The exhibition and publication integrate well-established voices in art and scholarship with emerging young artists in what promises to be an egalitarian, earnest, collective effort to question, confront and inspire.

i am not a good enough feminist is an exhibition and publication that seeks to investigate Feminism as a historically situated moment and the possibilities and necessities of its contemporary manifestations. Though organized by and stemming from an artistic mission, this project invites not only artists, writers, and other individuals from other artistic practices, but also an interdisciplinary group of activists and intellectuals to contemplate their experiences with, preconceptions of, and convictions surrounding Feminism.
Inherent to this project is an investigation of resistance to the word and concept of Feminism, perhaps manifesting in a new vocabulary with shared aims.
The project has a dual source and search. On the one hand, we contemplate anxiety surrounding Feminism’s legacy, the hypothetical realization of our forbears’ goals, the danger of nullifying progress by inadequate engagement with the term. On the other hand, we perceive disbelief from within our generation and without, over the relevance of whatever we could do. Through both these lenses, we hope to recognize, articulate, commiserate, and organize surrounding the paralysis of moving Feminism forward.

Dialogues is a collaboration between fifteen French and fifteen American or New York-based artists, paired up to make work for this two-part, four-space exhibition. Each pair of artists works together to translate each other's work and collaborate to produce a series of projects engaged with issues of communication, miscommunication, translation, and separation. After the two-week exhibition, DIALOGUES migrates to Artists Space in New York and Bétonsalon in Paris for a screening of all video work and documentation of the project, as well as an informal round table discussion with the artists (in New York AND in Paris) over dinner. An edition published as both a document of and supplement to the exhibition, will be available for purchase at all four locations of the project, as well as by request at potluckcollective@gmail.com.

Founded at Art in General in 2007, the project has a two-part goal to both act as a liaison between the academic and the exhibition setting, as well as to foster community by concurrently interlacing local, yet often separated, student arts communities. Dialogues is a collaboration between fifteen French and fifteen American or New York-based artists, paired up to make work for this two-part, four-space exhibition. The realization of all the collaborations will open as an exhibition of sorts simultaneously at Columbia University and ENSBA in Angers, with a live video broadcast between the two spaces. After the close of the exhibition, DIALOGUES will migrate to a subsequent video screening and round table discussion with the artists at Artists Space in New York and Bétonsalon in Paris. An edition published as both a document of and supplement to the exhibition, will be available for purchase at all four locations of the project, as well as by request at potluckcollective@gmail.com.
